Sorry that the copies of these paintings are so terrible... my photoshop is out of commission but I couldn't wait to share these with you. These are both 12x12 inches and I love them! They are a welcomed reward after a couple intensly hard months. I watched Meet the Robinsons with my girls tonight, it is a Disney cartoon. Probably my favorite because of the message of the movie. There is a part in the movie when the little boy gets to meet himself in the future, and then there is the Rob Thomas song that goes with it "These Small Moments" that I also find so touching. I relate so much to the movie because as a little girl I had big dreams. In the depths of my heart I knew I was an artist and had so much inside of me that at the time I didn't yet have the skills to express. It makes me want to cry when I think what if I hadn't believed in me. I especially love what the painting above with the woman's hair blowing in the wind represents to me. The last couple of months have shaken me to my core and this painting is my prayer that I can make it through all of the things I have been facing... that I will stay grounded even in the strongest storm. I honestly believe that being an artist has been my saving grace in surviving this world that we live in and I am so grateful!

You have always been such a sweetheart.
I just wanted to say hello- your art is beautiful.
I don't like hearing that you've had a rough few months- but just know you are not alone. Ever. I am a year past one of my toughest storms...there is light. there is light!
You are amazing and beautiful.

persistanceHi, i found you in the city guide and was taken by the purple, lolli painting. It sat on my desk for nearly 2 weeks and i almost through it out deciding i was never going to get that 5 free min. i needed to google your name and dig deeper. alas, i couldn't and was bestowed the gift today. Girl, i totally connect with you on a soul level. your characters are moving and i just love them. Art along with hope, joy and faith in all three are what we need right now. You inspired me today and i love the balloon entry. i'm a mom who dabbles as a dance teacher and event florist. so i guess you could say everything i do begins with art. thanks for the gift, kt lila

Your vulnerability is one of your greatest strengths as an artist, Melissa. That frank honesty is revealed in your work and people connect with it. Your women (for I've yet to see you paint a male) reveal a glimpse into our own doubts and our yearning to hope and trust in life, despite it's disappointments and cruelties.
January has been one of my toughest months of my life and yet, both of these paintings have soothed me. The little birds on the wire are so exposed and defenseless. Yet, I'm reminded of the Biblical phrase that assures us that God is aware of every little sparrow's fall.
You are inspired, Melissa. Please keep sharing.

Brilliant! I love the design of these two paintings (very elegant)! I am excited to see what comes of this storm. These are really great paintings! Wow!

Melissa- You're so talented, beautiful and kindhearted.. I'm sure you'll pull through. Suffering seems to come with the territory of being an artist, yes? Not to sound stereotypical but we tend to be sensitive souls. I hope things start getting easier for you soon. You deserve the best. I'll be thinking of you!

this painting is beautifully fantastic, and I love your words. I definitely believe expressing ourselves through our artistic abilities is therapy for our souls.
A friend of mine sent me a link to art work, and I'm so happy she did. It's amazing!

I also love "Meet the Robinsons" I watch it all the time. It is so motivational, and it helps me to remember that it is "these little moments" that are so important, we need to appreciate the journey. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in where I want to be, I forget to appreciate where I am. So yeah, good flick. And keep up the good work Melissa... I LOVE it!

I walked through the homes on the Yalecrest historic home tour and couldn't focus on the houses because I became mesmerized by your paintings in a few of them. They are so engaging. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing! I had to find your stuff online. I can't wait for your next show. Can you tell us more about "Bird on a Wire?" It makes me think of the balancing act I do between my husband and son, being the only woman in the house is crazy!
Keep it up, you're work is wonderful and original!!
